NEWA in partnership with Terre des Hommes Netherlands organized a training on Young Women Leadership for the Ethiopian Young Women Voice (EYWV) members The Network of Ethiopian Women’s Association (NEWA) has been working towards promoting gender equality, women’s and girls’ empowerment, and strives to bring the pressing challenges and issues of women and girls to the attention of policy/decision-makers and development partners for further action and intervention.  The She Leads project is working towards Enhancing girls’ and young women’s (GYW) participation in national-level decision-making spaces.NEWA in partnership with Terre des Hommes Netherlands organized a training on Young Women Leadership for the Ethiopian Young Women Voice (EYWV) members representing 8 different regions of Ethiopia in Addis Ababa.

NEWA in partnership with Plan International Ethiopia organized a half-day validation workshop Network of Ethiopian Women Association in partnership with plan international Ethiopia organized a half-day validation workshop on the assessment and findings of gender-based violence case stories.NEWA’s Executive Directress Mrs. Saba Gebremedhin welcomed the participants and briefed the project objective. She emphasized the main objective of the project is to improve the gender-based violence response mechanisms and proper services for GBV survivors in a certain implementation area.A finding of GBV assessment stories documentation, and case stories compilation in the implementation areas of SNNPR, Oromia, Amhara, and Addis Ababa were presented by Mr. Kassahun Belay.Following the presentation, discussions, and recommendations were forwarded from the participants. The workshop was held at Magnolia Hotel, Addis Ababa.

Network of Ethiopian Women Association in partnership with USAID organized a two-day Consultative meeting with the Ethiopian Women Peace Builders Steering Committee.

Network of Ethiopian Women’s Associations (NEWA) in partnership with UN WOMEN in Ethiopia  conducted capacity building training for young political aspirant women’s and women political party members in Sidama Regional State.

On the celebration of the IWD, the Network of the Ethiopian Women Association with other several representatives of women’s organizations at a federal level traveled to Mekell and visit different IDP centers.

The partnership between the Network of Ethiopian Women’s Associations (NEWA) and the Political Parties of Finland for Democracy – Demo Finland started in 2019.

NEWA and EWLA, in collaboration with USAID/OTI, held a workshop NEWA and EWLA, in collaboration with USAID/OTI, held a workshop in which women leaders from the media, CSO, political, and business sectors received Appreciative Inquiry training. Following the completion of the workshop on March 21 at Ellily International Hotel, we had the honor of bringing these women together and accomplished designing their collective vision,  designing their strategy for implementing their vision, selecting women to represent their sectors and serve as an ad hoc committee and Deciding on a collective name  “Transformative Women Leaders”. This workshop not only brought together women leaders from various sectors, but it also celebrated women for being remarkable and agents of peace!

NEWA organized a one-day national-level exhibition and advocacy event Our Executive Directress Saba Gebremedhin had a fruitful discussion with the U.S. Secretary of State, Antony J. Blinken. Their discussion was focused on the importance of women’s participation in peacebuilding decisions and centering the agenda of SGBV that happened during the conflict into the transitional justice process, and mechanisms.
