The Network of Ethiopian Women’s Associations (NEWA) convened a consultative meeting at the Inter Luxury Hotel in Addis Ababa on March 9, 2026.To emphasize the importance of a National Action Plan (NAP) on Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) in Ethiopia. This platform facilitated vital experience sharing and learning regarding the WPS agenda.The meeting brought together representatives from government institutions, including the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs, as well as international NGOs, embassies, CSOs, Ethiopian women peacebuilders (EWPB), and stakeholders from different regions of Ethiopia.Participants shared national and regional experiences on what is happening on the ground, explored ways to share resources, expertise, and tools, and to improve cooperation among government institutions, CSOs, grassroots peace movements, and development partners.In recognition of International Women’s Day, the event concluded with a special session celebrating the resilience, leadership, and contributions of women peacebuilders promoting sustainable peace in their communities.
